WFPA BOARD MINUTES 2/13/2010

 

Called to order at 8 a.m. by Pres. Tim Mcfarlan.

President Report- was read and accepted.

Secretary Report- was read and accepted.

Treasurer Report- read and accepted with $110,346 in the bank.

Fire Chief Report- One medical call & no fires; Walker locks for gates available-allowing access for fire personnel ($20); Currently in need of exhaust system for truck bay area-still gathering information and would like to be added to budget for next year.; another budget item for next year would be radios for firefighters, were looking into grant possibilities for this.; we have a new camera installed watching the dumpster area.; We now have 5 new firefighters and need to purchase fire shelters (4) at a cost of approximately $1600. THANKS BUD for your help with electrical pull down cords for trucks.

Old Business:

**MOTION 021310a: To approve the following expenditures over $500 for the month of January and authorize the Treasurer to make payments accordingly:

            1. Approve emergency expenditure authorized by President in January for the purchase of WFA Clothing Merchandise for $503.00

            2. Approve payment of up to $1,600 for 4 new fire shelters in anticipation of new fire fighters coming on board after training in March.  **PASSED

 **MOTION 021310: The Board approves a resolution to authorize creation of the WFPA Fire Chief Selection Committee to be chaired by Paul Nies consistent with the Committee Charter documents submitted to the WFPA.  **PASSED

Committee status reports;

1.      Bylaws Committee: Completed red-lined copy for WFPA Board pre-approval.  Changes to be completed by next Board meeting.

2.      Grant Committee: Looking into exhaust system grant; We don’t qualify for the SAFER grant.

3.      Board Nomination Committee: Applications available online WFPA website

4.      Fire District Formation Committee: No report.

5.      WFA: No report.

New Business:

Discussion on WFPA mailing lists: Will have motion draft for next months meeting.

Dues drive letter still being drafted.

***MOTION 021310: To approve signing a Consent and Waiver Agreement, authorizing Bill Whittington WFPA’s General Council, to work with Central Yavapai Fire District in the development of an Interagency Government Agreement for maintenance services likely to impact WFPA. **PASSED

Trash Collection needed 60 subscribers to break even and now have 74.

Please submit all news letter information by March 15.

Discussions: 1. Possible $ for fire fighter radios

2.      $ for WFA material expenses

3.      OSHA compliance and possible committee formation
