WFPA BOARD MINUTES 5-8-2010

Meeting called to order at 8 a.m. by President Tim McFarlan

President report read and accepted

Secretary report read and accepted

Treasurer report read and accepted with $151,068 in bank

Fire Chief report: 8 abandoned/illegal fires found and extinguished; 1 Medical call which required helicopter transport from the station and use of our 4WD Rescue vehicle-Many thanks to all who helped; Firefighters had drivers training on May 1&2-Thanks to all who helped; Firefighters began severity patrol on May 2; Please abide by the Red Flag Warning- no burning; If you are going to burn, please get GPS for Dept. to call in to forest- they are manning the tower; Heads up! Snakes are out.

MOTION 050810a: To approve the following expenditures over $500 for the month of April and authorize the Treasurer to make payments accordingly: 1. Approve Treasurer payment of invoice #47295 from Sir Speedy for the amount of $902.15 for printing, envelopes, handling and postage for the spring newsletter.  **PASSED

MOTION 050810b: To rescind resolution 041010c authorizing the hiring of Bryan Smith as WFPA’s Fire Chief and canceling the associated employment agreement.  Fire Chief selection shall be deferred to the next Board taking office in June.  **PASSED

-Discussion on Fire Chief selection…committee charter,call for volunteers, NIMS compliance, went through process of how we got here

-Discussion of the Fidelity Bond…VFIS $200 / Charles Parrick $500

MOTION 050810c: To approve purchase of fidelity bond insurance for up to $600 per year eith a $5000.00 deductable to provide insurance for WFPA against fraudulent use of WFPA funds by the President/Treasurer of the WFPA.  Charles Parrick as Agent.   **PASSED

MOTION 041010d: To approve one time and recurrent monthly payments for upgrading the WFPA webmaster’s internet capability to better enable support of the WFPA web site.  The costs include $250.00 for a one time modem and dish upgrade plus an incremental $40.00 per month to upgrade to Hughes Elite Plus service.  **PASSED
