Fire Condition Awareness

Officials urge those of us who have property in the Walker area to be aware of fire conditions and to be especially vigilant about our fire-related activities, particularly campfires and smoking.

If you have a home or cabin in Walker, remember to maintain a clear, defensible space around your house.  Keep combustible materials such as wood piles, brush, gasoline, and propane away from your dwelling.  Be sure to dispose of your barbeque and fireplace ashes properly. You must put your ashes in a metal bucket or other fire-safe container for at least 3 days before you can be sure they’re completely cooled.

For accurate information on the current status of fires at any give time, call 928-777-5701.
