BINGO @ Walker Fire House
Jun 10 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

For you new players the game is simple: Buy as many cards as you like, then play all night for that fee. We hand out new cards for each game. You don’t have to keep buying cards.

This is more of a social event visiting with and meeting new neighbors and reacquaint with old neighbors.

It’s also a finger food Potluck as well.   Please bring some finger food or a dish to share.

Be ready to have a lot of fun and possibly win some money.

A fun afternoon, so please try to join us!

2023 Chip & Haul
Jul 1 – Aug 20 all-day

Walker Community Action Alliance (WCAA) is happy to announce the 2021 Walker Community Chip and Haul event. Generous donations from the community at previous “Sundae Saturday” ice cream socials, Walker Calendar Sales, a “$5,500.00 Title III Forest Fee Program” grant from the Yavapai County Supervisors and very generous grants from community individuals have made this event possible. We wish to thank the Walker Fire Protection Association for the use, preparation and repair of the firehouse parking/dumpster area.

The purpose of this event is to provide Walker property owners a convenient, low (no) cost means to reduce the level of wildfire fuel from their properties which in turn will help reduce the intensity of wildfire activity.

When: March 13, 2021 until May 20, 2021

Where: Walker Fire Department parking/dumpster area. 4980 E. Walker Rd.

What: Bring forest vegetation to be chipped with the Yavapai County grinder and hauled away.

RULES:

  1. Do not bring anything before March 13, or after May 20.

  1. Place nothing into the roll-offs provided. They must contain only wood chips. Anything else (like your trash) will add an additional $360.00 to $450.00 to the cost of the roll-off because it will need to be delivered to a transfer station at a cost of $45.00 per ton.

  1. Bring only forest products. If it didn’t grow on your parcel, do not bring it! This means no lumber, bricks, blocks, TV sets, refrigerators, metal, or garbage of any kind.

  1. Empty bags of needles, leaf litter, etc. onto the pile and take the bags with you. We cannot process plastic bags.

  1. Do not bring root balls – these not only often contain rocks that will damage the grinder, but they are often too large to be handled by the grinder.

  1. Pile your stuff (slash) as close as possible to the existing pile. If you can, place it atop what is already there.

  1. You are required to report your hours, mileage and other expenses on the timesheets provided. Your reporting helps qualify for payment of wages (part time help for the Prescott Area Wildland/Urban Interface Commission (YavapaiFirewise.com)) and helps that organization retain its’ non-profit status. Your reporting helps the US Forest Service obtain funding by showing community participation, and is also used by Walker Firewise to qualify for grant funds and for annual renewal to Firewise USA® as an official “Firewise Recognized Community”. No renewal = no more Walker Firewise!

  1. Timesheets can also be downloaded by following this link: http://www.walkercaa.org/FirewiseTaskForce.html

  1. More answers to your questions can be found here: http://www.walkercaa.org/Documents/Firewise%20Taskforce/Chip%20&%20Haul%20Frequently%20Asked%20Questions.pdf

  1. Please follow CDC, State and County guidelines to help curb the COVID-19 coronavirus. Mask up when others are present and avoid close contact.

  1. It is easy to become injured when working with slash. Protect yourself. WEAR PROTECTION – EYE, EAR, HEAD, HAND – PROTECT YOUR BACK – KNOW YOUR LIMITS – STAY HYDRATED
