The Walker Fire
Walker had a four acre brush fire on Saturday, May 10, 2014, in very windy conditions but fortunately it was contained in just a few hours. It was called The Walker Fire for its proximity to Walker Rd. We had 14 firefighters from Walker their in various capacities along with help from the Forest Service who sent a Hotshot crew, a Type 3 Engine, a Type 6 Patrol and help from Groom Creek Fire District who sent a water tender and a Type 6 Patrol.
The fire was in very steep terrain and the wind caused one potentially serious spot fire that was quickly addressed. The fire was sized up at 4 acres but that may not include the spot fire.
We also had air support.
On the way to the spot fire.
