MEDICAL TEAM FUND RAISER
October 5, 2013 4:00 TO 6:00 p.m.
HELD AT THE WALKER FIRE STATION
(8 MI south of Costco on Walker Rd)
Please come join us in honoring our volunteers, past and present, and celebrating another year as an all volunteer Fire Department. This year we are featuring live 50’s & 60’s rock music courtesy of “Guys with day jobs” along with our traditional 50/50 drawing. This is a donation only event. Please give what you can.
This years fund raising proceeds are going to help fund our emergency medical teams equipment and training. This is historically a high energy, well attended and memorable affair that is not to be missed.
The Firefighter Appreciation Day pot luck features our wood roasted, succulent pig, home made chili and baked beans. Please bring one of those wonderful side dishes our community pot lucks are famous for (You know, grandma’s potato salad, bacon and cheese smothered anything, Scalloped Potatoes and such). If you have an insatiable sweet tooth, please bring your favorite deserts. We are also extending our invitation to the Prescott area Firefighters and their families to thank them for their commitment to assisting us in our times of need.
Hope to see you all there!

Announcing Grinder Month
August 30 – September 30, 2013
Back by popular demand! Your Walker Firewise Committee has again arranged for disposal of forest vegetation to assist in reducing the threat of wildfire in Walker.
Create/maintain defensible space around your home and recycle your needles, branches, brush, shrubs and limbs by bringing it to the Walker Firehouse during the month of September.
No Lines – No Waiting – Your Schedule – 24 Hour Access – FREE
There is no funding for this type of operation in year 2014, so take advantage of this opportunity now while you can.
Two different drop locations, both at the Walker Fire Station.
First is a 40-yard container. This is where you may deposit pine needles, leaf litter, small branches, etc. Deposits may be either bagged or not.
Second, is a designated area of the parking lot where you may pile large stuff like branches, trees, logs, rounds, and un-bagged needles/leaf litter, etc. As always – Vegetation Only! Please, no household trash, no tires, no refrigerators, no washing machines, no pipes, no rocks, no lumber, no bags, etc. The equipment will handle vegetation only!
Please, Pile it high – not wide
We plan to bring in the Yavapai County owned Grinder on or about September 30th to grind everything previously collected. No more dumping allowed after September 30, 2013.
Questions may be directed to walkerfirewise@gmail.com

The Walker Community Action Alliance Firewise Committee is proud to be able to bring this service to you. The cost for this project is funded through a Title III grant that was awarded to the WCAA Walker Firewise Committee by the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors. The Walker community is indebted to the Walker Fire Department for the use of its property, thank you.
